Alaska Islands & Ocean Visitor Center
Explore an Alaska few have seen
This visitor center interprets the natural and cultural history of the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge.
Most visitors to Alaska never see the Refuge's vast expanse of islands and shoreline, which are summer habitats to 40 million seabirds. With this in mind, AldrichPears Associates designed the Center around theatrical environments and interactive exhibits that explore seabird biology, oceanography, environmental monitoring and human activities.
A wet lab, classroom and trail system support an environmental education program developed with local teachers and researchers.
