Esplanade Museum
Witnessing history take shape
AldrichPears Associates provided complete exhibit planning and design services for the museum component of the new Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre. Working closely with the Museum's curator and other local specialists, we developed exhibits focused on the people of Medicine Hat – the characters, the politicians and the everyday people who built Medicine Hat from a rough-and-ready frontier town in the 1870s to a contemporary city.
Visitors hear Hatters' voices, see their faces and read their words as they explore the exhibits. Large photomurals from the Museum's excellent archival collection serve as "mileposts" on the visitor's journey through the gallery, while abstracted scenes provide context for the artifact collection.
