Museo del Acero Horno Trex

Parque Fundidora, Monterrey, Mexico
April, 2007

Progress To Date

Construction on the Museo del Acero has now been underway for a year. Much of the initial work focused on stabilizing and restoring the blast furnace, and creating new spaces. The Steel Gallery was carved out of the slag pit located next to the blast furnace, and its roof was installed. The casting hall floor was ripped out, and the walls and roof were replaced. The furnace itself was refurbished with the machinery parts it had been missing. The History Gallery was restored and exhibits are now being installed. Finally, administrative and classroom spaces are being erected.
