Connecting with the desert

As part of the ongoing redevelopment of the Al Ain Zoo, AldrichPears Associates is developing a center that celebrates the region's remarkable history and helps visitors delve into the mysteries of the desert environment.

This 10,000 sq. ft. Desert Learning Centre will complement the Zoo exhibits, providing new and different types of experiences and opportunities for people to discover more about the desert. Visitors can "fly" over the Arabian desert in a multi-screen theatre production, experience Bedu life in a re-created encampment, appreciate Sheikh Zayed's conservation efforts in a memorial hall, dig for fossilized elephant bones, radio-track live oryx, model a sand dune, and measure their ecological footprint.
