World War II Valor in the Pacific
A Day to Remember
Wanting to rebuild the aging interpretive center for the USS Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor, the National Park Service turned to AldrichPears Associates (APA) to develop a new interpretive concept indoor and outdoor exhibit space. APA's challenge lay in providing over 1.5 million visitors per year with an experience that interprets the historical events leading up to, and resulting from, the December 7, 1941 attack while making the content resonate with today's audiences.
Staying true to the memorial's mission of honoring the courage and sacrifices of Pearl Harbor, the exhibits derived from APA's design provide a balanced perspective featuring survivors' oral histories, Pearl Harbor artifacts, and audiovisual experiences.
