Woodland Park Zoo: Zoomazium

Playfully connecting kids with nature

At the Zoomazium, young children are connected to the natural world through a variety of imaginative, whole-bodied play opportunities. In planning and designing Zoomazium, our goal was to create fun, nature-themed activities that would inspire kids to explore nature in their own backyards.

Kids up to 8 years old can safely explore grasslands, mountains and forest ecosystems. They can climb a mountain, slide through a forest, investigate the depths of a water hole in the savanna or barter in the Nature Exchange.

The exhibits won the Themed Entertainment Association Award for Outstanding Achievement for a Zoo Exhibit in 2006.
